BITTER RIVALS CHRIS EUBANK JR AND LIAM WILLIAMS SET TO CLASH CARDIFF ON DECEMBER 11

BITTER RIVALS CHRIS EUBANK JR AND LIAM WILLIAMS SET TO CLASH CARDIFF ON DECEMBER 11

High Profile UK Middleweights Promise Instant Classic When They Enter The Ring For British Boxing’s Biggest Fight Of The Year

Long-Awaited Showdown Headlines BOXXER Fight Night: Cardiff In Association With Wasserman Boxing At Motorpoint Arena, Airs Live And Exclusively To Sky Sports Subscribers

Boxxer Card Also Features UK Debut Of Two-Time Olympic Gold Medallist Claressa ‘GWOAT’ Shields in world title defence

Cardiff, Wales (November 11, 2021) The long-running rivalry between Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams will be settled in explosive fashion on Saturday, December 11 in a highly-anticipated showdown promoted by BOXXER and Wasserman Boxing at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, live and exclusive on Sky Sports.

Eubank (31-2, 23 KO’s) and Williams (23-3, 18 KO’s) both lay claim to being the #1 middleweight in the UK and have traded verbal jabs numerous times in recent years. Now Eubank is taking the fight to Williams’ doorstep as he heads to the Welsh capital city of Cardiff to face the Welshman on home soil.

With both fighters known for having all-action styles and a proven pedigree for finishing fights inside the distance, their December 11 meeting promises to be one of the most electrifying British boxing contests of the year in a fiery England-Wales showdown.

“Liam Williams has been saying a lot to try to catch my attention and bait me into fighting him,” said Eubank Jr. “It’s now got to the point where everyone is asking me to shut him up, and on December 11, I’m going to give the people what they want.

“As I’ve said, I’m only involved in big fights from now on and this is the fight people want to see. They want to see if Williams can back up what he’s been saying – which he won’t. I’m on a mission towards World Titles and Liam Williams is someone I’ve got to go through to get there. I’m looking forward to shutting him up.”

Williams said, “I’m very excited to get the fight made. It’s been coming for a long time. I can’t wait to shut his mouth once and for all. There’s nothing like a big domestic showdown to get the juices flowing. A lot of people have been calling for this fight for a long time. I personally think it’s the biggest all-British fight outside of AJ and Fury.

“I’m really excited and just counting down the days. I’ve not been that impressed with Chris’ recent performances. People are talking about how he’s brought Roy Jones in to improve him but if I’m being totally honest I don’t think he’s improved one bit. A win in this fight and possibly even a stoppage over Eubank and my name is going to be well and truly out there and in the mix for world titles.”

“This fight has everything and has been what all the fans have been asking for. It’s an amazing way to end the year for Boxxer on Sky Sports and bringing this type of fight as part of a normal Sky Sports subscription is a very proud moment,” said Ben Shalom, BOXXER founder and CEO

“They genuinely dislike each other, they both come forward non-stop and Eubank is heading into the dragon’s den to settle their issue on Williams’ home soil. I’ll be amazed if this doesn’t turn out to be British boxing’s fight of the year. A stacked card will sit underneath – Cardiff is in for a very special night.

“We’re also extremely excited to have concluded a multi-fight deal with Claressa Shields and her promoter Dmitriy Salita. She’s widely considered the most feared female in boxing and British fans will have their first chance to see her in action live on December 11 as she takes on the dangerous and undefeated Ema Kozin in a unified world title fight.”

Adam Smith, Sky Sports Head of Boxing Development, remarked, “We’re delighted to deliver a pre-Christmas cracker as Chris Eubank Jr collides with Liam Williams in a huge British battle on December 11, live on Sky Sports.

“Chris Eubank Jr’s world title ambitions will be severely tested by Williams, the fiery Welshman, who dragged WBO champion Demetrius Andrade into a punishing dogfight earlier this year.

“With their heated feud ready to boil over, Williams will relish the chance to inflict a crushing defeat. Is Eubank Jr ready for the biggest names in the world? We’ll soon find out as Sky Sports serves up a festive treat!”

“This is the fight that everyone has been talking about,” said Wasserman Boxing promoter Kalle Sauerland. “The public demand has been overwhelming. On December 11, Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams are finally going to meet in the centre of the ring to settle their differences once and for all. This is without a doubt the biggest fight in British boxing right now.”

The Wasserman Boxing-promoted Eubank fought in Newcastle last month, stopping German challenger Wanik Awdijan with a body shot in the fifth round of their contest. It was Eubank’s second fight and win of the year, following his dominant win over Marcus Morrison in May.

Williams last fought in April this year, when he rode a seven-fight streak of stoppage wins into a world title challenge against WBO Middleweight Champion Demetrius Andrade in Florida. Williams brought the fight to the undefeated defending champion and forced Andrade to dig deep to retain his title by way of judges’ decision.

Also confirmed for the December 11 card is two-time Olympic gold medallist Claressa Shields, making her first appearance in the BOXXER ring as part of a seven-figure deal struck between BOXXER, Sky Sports and her management at Salita Promotions.

Shields will be defending her WBAWBCIBF, and The Ring World Middleweight Championships against undefeated WBF World Middleweight Champion Ema Kozin (21-0-1, 11 KO’s), with the 22-year-old Slovenian, who has stopped three of her last five opponents, making a third defence of her own world championship.

WBO Women’s World Middleweight Champion Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall will next compete on BOXXER’s first card of the new year, scheduled for February 2022, as she rehabilitates a hand injury sustained in her second-round stoppage of the previously undefeated Lolita Muzeya last month.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Friday November 12 and the two fighters will be present at a press conference in London next week, with details of the conference date and time to be announced shortly.

CORI GIBBS WINS BOXXER SERIES: LIVERPOOL – SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT TOURNAMENT

CORI GIBBS WINS BOXXER SERIES: LIVERPOOL - SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT TOURNAMENT

Undefeated Gibbs Wins Three Fights In One Night, Secures Tournament Victory And Grand Prize Live On Sky Sports

Liverpool, England (November 6, 2021) – Cori Gibbs entered the BOXXER Series Liverpool: Super-Lightweight Tournament as the only undefeated fighter in the line-up.

Three fights and three wins later, he retained that undefeated status and left the ring with an enhanced reputation and a large winner’s cheque after besting Tom Farrell (20-5, 5 KO’s), Lee Appleyard (18-7-1, 5 KO’s) and Sean Dodd (17-6-1, 3 KO’s) in back-to-back fights, live on Sky Sports.

“I was confident going into it but it’s a different feeling to win it. I pulled it off and I’m just happy,” beamed an ecstatic Gibbs – now 16-0, 3 KO’s – after winning the hard-fought tournament final match against Farrell.

Gibbs’ journey started with a quarter-final win over former Commonwealth lightweight champion Dodd. Fighting in his home city, Dodd had the crowd behind him and the career pedigree to make him, on paper, the toughest possible opponent for anyone’s first fight of the tournament.

It was a close fight in which both boxers showed their quality, putting on probably the most technical match of the tournament. Gibbs outfoxed Dodd early but was put in trouble later in the fight but ultimately did enough to get the nod from the judges.

In the semi-final he played matador with Appleyard, avoiding damage from the heavy-handed Yorkshireman while racking up points of his own, before meeting Farrell in the tournament’s grand final for an epic showdown which did justice to both boxers and the sense of occasion.

Starting in southpaw stances and switch-hitting at will throughout the fight, the pair showcased their boxing intellects as well as their physical prowess. Feints, distractions and switch-hitting alternated with furiously intense exchanges throughout.

Gibbs had the better of it early but Farrell came back strongly at the end of the first round. By the second his face was a mask of blood, testament to the warrior spirit which had him battling ferociously until the end.

Both fighters raised their arms in victory when the final bell sounded, but the decision went to the still-undefeated Gibbs.

Prior to the final, Farrell had faced Kane Gardner (12-2, 6 KO’s), who put the pressure on his opponent early and soon opened up some cuts which ran freely in the colour of the Liverpool man’s home city.

Manchester man Gardner led the attack but Farrell scored well with counters and it looked like the judges would be in for another tough decision until Farrell landed a beautiful left cross counter from his southpaw stance in the middle of the third round.

The blow put Gardner down. He easily beat the referee’s count but then had a frantic final minute as he fought moving backwards to clear his head while Farrell went looking for a finish. He didn’t find it, but he did secure a win on the scorecards.

Farrell’s earlier encounter with Ben Fields (10-11, 2 KO’s) in the second quarter-final match of the evening was a classic example of boxer versus brawler. Farrell stayed on the back foot for most of the fight, boxing clever and picking his shots as Fields came forward relentlessly.

With an unorthodox style, what Fields lacks in finesse he makes up for in aggression. Powerful shots were coming at Farrell from all sides throughout the contest, with him finding gaps to land counters in return.

The fight was close – although Fields was perhaps lucky not to be docked a point after frequent warnings for clinching and for punches to the back of the head – but the split-decision in Farrell’s favour was all he needed to send him forward to the semi-finals.

Regional rivals Appleyard and Levi Kinsiona (8-2, 1 KO) had exchanged words in the run-up to their quarter-final match, the two Yorkshire boxers knowing each other well from the sparring circuit in their home county and looking to secure bragging rights for their respective hometowns of Rotheram and Sheffield.

“You will be light work!” Kinsiona told Appleyard at the weigh-ins, in what turned out to be a highly inaccurate prediction.

When Appleyard landed some big shots early in the first round, Kinsiona’s vision of an easy three rounds was shattered. Having entered the ring intent on boxing his way to a clear win and taking minimal damage along the way, he was forced instead to get in the trenches.

Advantage passed back and forth throughout the contest, with one seemingly on the verge of scoring a decisive fight-ending blow only to suddenly eat a huge counter and be forced to defend as his opponent rallied back into control.

After three furious rounds, Appleyard’s success in forcing Kinsionia out of his gameplan were rewarded with a split-decision victory and passage to the semi-finals.

Gardner and Nathan Bennett (9-3, 2 KO’s) set the tone when they entered the ring for the first bout of the evening, the two long-time rivals clicking immediately into top gear and throwing everything with bad intentions.

Bennett pressed forwards in the first round and had Gardner boxing off the back foot for a time, but the Mancunian weathered the early storm and gradually took control of the fight. He had Bennett on the defensive and badly rocked just before the final bell ended the bout.

Liverpool, England (November 4, 2021) BOXXER, the next-generation boxing promotion, today announced the signing of British female boxing pioneer Natasha Jonas (9-2, 7 KO’s) to an exclusive long-term promotional agreement.

Born and raised in Liverpool, two-time world title challenger Jonas has proudly represented her city and her country in the course of an outstanding career which has seen her repeatedly set new records and raise the bar for British women’s boxing.

As a standout amateur she won five national ABA Championships and made history in 2009 by becoming the first female boxer to compete for GB Boxing, where her haul of medals included a 2010 gold medal in the inaugural GB Amateur Boxing Championships in front of her home fans at Liverpool Arena.

The crowning glory of her amateur career came in 2012 when she made history for a second time by becoming the first female British boxer to compete at an Olympic Games, progressing easily to the quarter-finals before dropping a decision to eventual gold medal winner Katie Taylor and sparking a rivalry which persists to this day.

A professional since 2017, Jonas is the former WBA International Super-Featherweight Champion and has become a firm fan-favourite, her ferocious firepower from her southpaw stance earning her a 77% stoppage rate in her victories. thanks to explosive power.

She has twice challenged for major world titles, taking undisputed World Lightweight Champion Taylor the distance earlier this year in an even contest and being denied victory over WBC and IBO champion Terri Harper by way of a controversial draw decision in 2020.

Jonas joins a BOXXER stable stacked with outstanding female professional talent in a powerful movement for women’s boxing that already includes World Champion Savannah Marshall,  the World’s best female boxer Claressa Shields, Team GB Olympian and pro-debutant Caroline Dubois and top prospect Ebonie Jones.

Jonas said, “I’m so happy to have signed with BOXXER and to remain with Sky Sports who are the biggest and best platform for our sport in the UK. I can’t wait to get started in the BOXXER ring and get back challenging for a World title soon with my biggest fights ahead of me on Sky Sports.”

Ben Shalom, BOXXER Founder and CEO, said “Natasha Jonas has made a significant impact for women’s boxing in this country and has achieved such huge things for her sport, her city and her country. We are very proud to announce this signing here in Liverpool today and we look forward to working together to make her list of achievements even longer,”

Joe Gallagher, Jonas’ trainer, said, “The BOXXER and Sky Sports deal is fantastic for Natasha, it means that she will be really active and get that world title shot again in no time. Sky Sports is the home where she had two back-to-back world title fights against Terri Harper and Katie Taylor so her fanbase is there and her profile is sky high with the great ‘Driving Force’ documentary with Judy Murray. I’m delighted for her and she’ll go from strength to strength.”

Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development on Sky Sports, said, “Natasha Jonas has been one of the trail blazers for women’s boxing since her historic appearance at the London 2012 Games – and we’re absolutely delighted that she has teamed up with BOXXER’s exciting new stable of fighters.

“Tasha has produced some thrilling performances on Sky Sports, coming within touching distance of a world title in epic battles with Terri Harper and Katie Taylor. We hope the hugely popular Liverpudlian can fulfil that ambition with BOXXER.

“We’re getting ready for an exciting end to the year, with more big fights on the way, live on Sky Sports.”

London, England – (November 1, 2021) – Albanian superstar Florian ‘The Albanian King’ Marku will face French contender Jorick Luisetto on a stacked BOXXER show at the SSE Arena, Wembley on Saturday 20th November, live and exclusive on Sky Sports.

TAYLOR vs CATTERALL MOVES TO FEBRUARY 26

TAYLOR vs CATTERALL MOVES TO FEBRUARY 26

The highly-anticipated clash between undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will now take place Saturday, February 26 at the OVO Hydro Arena, Glasgow.

Taylor – who holds the WBA, IBF, WBC and WBO world titles – had been due to defend his belts in Glasgow on December 18 in a co-promoted event by Top Rank and BOXXER, but has been forced to postpone the bout after suffering a knee injury in training this week.

Taylor became undisputed world champion in May this year when he traveled to Las Vegas to defeat defending WBC and WBO champion Jose Ramirez. Taylor, who carried his WBA and IBF titles into the fight, knocked Ramirez down twice on the way to an emphatic win and undisputed world super-lightweight champion status.

Only five boxers in history have ever managed to achieve undisputed world champion status in the “four-belt” era – the other four being all-time greats Bernard Hopkings, Jermaine Taylor, Terence Crawford and Oleksandr Usyk – and Taylor is the first British fighter ever to do so

His meeting with mandatory challenger Catterall in February will thus be a landmark moment in British and Scottish sporting history and a deeply significant occasion for proud Scotsman Taylor.

“I’m gutted I won’t be able to defend my title on December 18 as originally planned, but I wanted to make sure I was 100 percent healthy to give my incredible fans the show they deserve. This homecoming has been a long time in the making, and it will be worth the wait. I will see everyone on February 26,” said Taylor.

Catterall commented, “Everything happens for a reason! I am gutted not just for me but for everyone who had planned to go. I will remain professional and continue working for the new date. In 2022 I will be world champion. Obstacles like this are nothing new for me. I will turn the frustration into positive energy.”

“Defending his undisputed world championship status on home soil is a very special moment for Josh. Obviously he’s disappointed that the bout has to be postponed, but this bout will be an historic occasion and he wants to be in peak form when he lays his belts on the line in front of his countrymen in a sold-out Glasgow Arena,” said Ben Shalom, Founder, BOXXER.
